Indias Kakinada Container Terminal (KCT) open for Colombo and Singapore feeder services

 Nov.10--INDIA's Kakinada Container Terminal (KCT) situated in the Kakinada Deep Water Port (KDWP) in Andhra Pradesh, with an initial handling capacity of 200,000 TEU, has started commercial operations last week.

 
With a quay length of 300 metres and equipped with mobile harbour cranes and reach stackers, KCT is a joint venture set up by PSA Chennai Investments Pvt. Ltd, Bothra Shipping Services Pvt. Ltd, and Kakinada Infrastructure Holdings Pvt. Ltd.
 
Starting from November 15, Orient Express Lines (OEL) will launch a feeder service with a capacity of 1,100 TEU on the Chittagong-Kakinada-Colombo and Haldia-Kakinada-Singapore routes, reported The Hindu.
 
"KCT will serve the agricultural, seafood and commodity trade, and cater to the growing demand for containerisation of such produce in the Kakinada region," PSA India managing director Mike Formoso said.
