June 6--THE Japanese Ship Owners' Association (Ship Recycling Committee) will give a presentation at 5th Ship Recycling Congress July 26-27 in Singapore under the theme of, "Asian Shipowner's Views on Green Ship Recycling (Ensure Motivation Toward Same Goal).
The main speaker will be Kuang Ming Shipping Corp chairman CH Yeh, who will be joined by K Tomoda, associate director of "K" Line.
Discussions will focus on the continuing demand for ship demolition globally caused by over-tonnage and replacement with better quality ships that satisfy international regulations; the necessity to develop facilities in southwest Asia where 70 per cent of demolition is carried out; and the introduction of "Success Case - India", which is to be strengthened and transplanted to other countries.
Confirmed speakers include senior executives from "K" Line, Kuang Ming Shipping, Lilly Maritime Pvt. Ltd, NYK Bulkship (Asia) Pte Ltd, Grieg Green, Van De Poel, and DNV GL. Other speakers are Dr. Arun Dev, Senior Lecturer, Marine And Offshore Technology, Newcastle University (Singapore); and Hari Narayan, Partner, United Maritime Law Chambers.
